Supporting the MGS

Since it came into being in 1994, our Society has grown from its unique Greek "garden on a hillside in Attica" to reach gardeners in the various mediterranean-climate regions of the world. This wouldn't have been possible without the faithful contribution made by our members as they renew their subscriptions annually – it is these subscriptions alone that provide the funds for the budget which our Treasurer presents each year at our General Assembly. The MGS has always relied solely on its own powers and has never sought public aid or regional or state funding of any kind. Nor indeed would we wish to change this practice, since it is on this that our independence is based. In a world undergoing a profound crisis, the MGS must adapt to the current situation while at the same time continuing to pursue its aims; this is why the Administrative Committee is turning to those who are the mainspring of our Society – in other words, our members themselves – so that those who wish to do so may support the MGS, each according to his or her ability.

We are thus introducing a new possibility. From now on, you may if you wish make a donation to the Society in euros, using the on-line credit card secure WorldPay system.

To make your donation, put the amount you wish to donate in the box below and press the continue button. This will take you to our secure page at WorldPay where you will be able to enter your credit card details and confirm the transaction.

  • General donation - To be used at the discretion of the Administrative Committee in order to serve best the interests and aims of the Society.

I wish to make a donation of (EUR)

  • Special donation - To be used for special purposes, for example: to create new series of MGS leaflets in colour; to help finance the development of present and future websites in several languages; to support the MGS garden at Sparoza, improve its 'visibility' and to purchase new plants to try out for their ability to tolerate drought; to contribute to the hosting costs of our Forum; to subsidise postage and PDF versions of our Journal; to help cover postage costs of our Seed Service. In that case, let us have your preferences by contacting us.

We will not be able to accept your order and payment for membership if the authorisation of your credit card fails. If there are any other problems with the payment you will be contacted by the Treasurer. If you have any enquiries about payment please contact us.

Refund Policy
If you live in the EU you have the right by law to cancel your payment within seven days of submitting it. To cancel your payment please contact us so that we can arrange to reimburse you by the same method that you paid us.

Confidentiality
Your personal details are treated as strictly confidential and will be used only for administrative purposes within the confines of the MGS. In the event that you have any concerns regarding confidentiality, or become aware of any misuse, you should contact us.
